Nvidia Shield DVR Issues

I've been using Channels for over a year without any issues. Its been very stable. I run the DVR on the Nvidia Shield with a 5TB USB hard drive, but I watch live tv and recorded shows on my Apple TV HD. All components are connected to my router via ethernet.

About 2 weeks ago I was away on a trip and when I arrived home and went to watch some shows I found the app on the Apple TV wouldn't load the recorded shows (only the white spinning symbol). I rebooted the Shield and that fixed it but no shows were recorded while I was away so it must have been down for awhile. I figured this was a one time thing.

Last week the same thing happened, as I travel for work often, it missed recording shows. This week I'm home and yesterday and today, each morning I've had to reboot the Shield to access recorded shows. This morning I tried the Channels app on the Shield before rebooting and it couldn't access anything either. Also, I tried the web UI and it wouldn't load anything until I rebooted the Shield.

I'm not sure what's going on lately as Channels was so stable before and never missed a beat.

Any help would be appreciated.

Please open the dvr web UI and click the Log tab, then scroll back and see what errors are shown. Copy paste them here and we can help resolve the root cause.

Nothing unusual in that log.

Open http://x.x.x.x:8089/log?n=10000 (replace x.x.x.x with the IP of your DVR), then file>save and send the file to [email protected]

Ok. Done.

2019/09/16 16:06:53 [TNR] Cancelling stream 10713B90 ch35.1 after 6s read timeout
2019/09/16 16:06:59 [ERR] Failed to start stream on channel 35.1 via 10713B90: HDHomeRun: 807 No Video Data

Seeing a bunch of these errors which come from the HDHR and usually mean there's no antenna signal.

2019/09/17 00:59:01 [WRN] Buffer for 10713B90 ch2.1 is more than 95% full (clients=1, len=31877600)
2019/09/17 06:56:11 [WRN] Buffer for 10713B90 ch5.1 is more than 99% full (clients=1, len=33219788)

Also seeing some of these which will result in corrupted recordings. This may mean the HDD is failing or that some other software on the SHIELD is overloading it.

Does that explain why the DVR becomes unresponsive and the Shield needs to be rebooted each morning to view anything?

I had the exact same issues with my nVidia Shield used as the DVR server. I’ve since unhooked it all in preparation to move it to another location and bring it back up online.

Has there been a solution to this since that last post above, and if so, please explain how to rectify it in case I run into the same issues again.

Thanks!
