I've gotten the guide to where I can watch shows again, but I can't watch my recordings. How do I move them to where I can access them again?
Throughout this struggle with Experience 9, I have repeatedly found the IP address of the server was not correct in the Channels app (look in Channels Settings, at the top is the logo click that and you will see the IP. If you click the logo, you can reset the IP. I found that usually that allows access to the recordings until you shut off the device, then you might have to do it again. I have probably done it 20 times since the "upgrade" (never had to do it before...
In my case it was correct. My recordings schedule is back where it was without me changing a thing. The only thing not working now is that I need (I guess) to move all my old recordings to wherethey can be accessed.
I have a file manager on my Shield and can see all my old recordings, I just can't access them through Channels.
The odd thing, I can see all of them in my library but the playback fails.
Mapping both your shields drives on your computer to drag and drop between would be the easiest way.
Can you give a 1st grade level description of how to do this ? I have a similar problem - when the issues started with the Shield, I thought it was my device, bought another one, and of courre that wasn't the problem after all. But the two devices stored recordings on the same USB drive but each can only access its own recording.
I second this
In the SHIELDs settings under storage, make sure 'Transfer files over local network" is enabled. Set a username and notate the password it gives you.
On the computer, open a file manager, and type:
\\yourshieldsIP and hit enter
It'll prompt you for the user and PW, and you can browse it's storages. If any of it doesn't work, it's usually the wrong type slashes being typed, or windows file sharing being turned off.
Once you have them open in a file explorer, you can pin to start, pin to taskbar, map the drives to letters, etc
Nvidia support article:
Thanks for this. I'll give it a go.
Thank you very much. This seems idiot proof… I will give it a try this weekend. I really appreciate the info.
I saw last week somewhere where some people saying that a factory reset fixed the issues that they were having. So, last Sunday I decided to go ahead and do a full factory reset. Now, my shield is back to it's normal self before the 9.0 debacle. I will not attempt to install Channels server on it until Nvidia release's a full licensed software upgrade/fix...not a patch job. It came back up with the current package 9.0.2(33.1.0.291)
Nvidia just released another hotfix,..
Second Hotfix (33.1.0.301 deployed on 3/2/2022):
- Resolves Wifi disconnects on a subset mesh/band steering network setups with wifi roaming enabled
- Improves file transfer performance
- Resolves delayed mounting of external drives
- Resolves issue with Files app not always showing all files
- Resolves drive speed test when adopting a storage drive always reports drive too slow
- Resolves issue when Kodi is running in the background, refresh rate changes on apps in the foreground
- Resolves popping audio when playing back over BT headphones while Dolby Processing is enabled
- Resolves Xbox360 controller dpad registers double input in some apps
- Resolves NVIDIA Share fails with message "Android database insertion failure" when external storage is connected
- Resolves Dolphin Emulator can see the content on NAS, but failed to write to NAS
- Resolves Atresplayer Spanish TV app crashes
- Adds ability to open data and obb folders of USB drive attached to SHIELD from windows
Is it safe to do the update? Since 9.0 I'm shy about upgrades.
So far, it's working fine for me, but remember, I am not running the Channels server on it...and I also did a factory rest on it before I did the upgrade. Channels server is installed on my PC.
