Nvidia shield fix has arrived!

I couldn’t stop the update to 9.0.1 Since the update every time I use tv everywhere it crashes all functions on server except I can watch ota channels. After I reboot server everything works so for now I’m not using tv everywhere

I don't know what happened but all of the sudden, everything works! I'm a happy camper!

I spoke too soon as well. I'm getting the same thi g. The Guide shows one long show for each network.

Go to the server settings and select download entire guide. It's under maintenance.

I can't access the settings for some reason. When I try to pull that up I get a page that shows the logo, the words "Channels DVR" and nothing else. It won't budge. I have to kill it to get it off the screen.

Ok, finally got it to work. I have the guide again. The guide looks fine, but I have "permission denied" on every channel!

I realize Nvidia screwed all this up but something has to change. I'm pretty tech savvy, well, most of the time, but can you imagine someone who isn't trying to fix this? They would yell "screw this" and go back to cable or a plain streamer. My Fubo app works flawlessly. Channels hasn't worked in weeks!

If I didn't like Channels and what it offers I wouldn't bother. Yet, I'm not going to invest a lot more time. I'll just cancel and be like the mass of people that just watch whatever their streaming app offers.

Nvidia made a mess, I don’t understand why they keep releasing “fixes“ that don’t fix it. Do they not know to test it first? Channels is a terrific product, it was my go-to, so I’ve been hanging in there, but I don’t understand why an enterprise the size and level of technology of Nvidia can’t get this mess straightened out.

I use channels via shield, and found that if I unplug the shield and reboot it, sometimes channels will function properly until I turn it off, then the same situation starts again.

My sentiment exactly. And the thing is, we know that they know how to test. Video cards that work in tons of computers show that.

No major problems for me running Channels client or server on my Nvidia Shield Pro using external usb harddrive for storage. Upgraded Shield version 9.0.1 with Hotfix1, installed Channels client from play store, server not available from play store, ran InstallChannelsDVR.apk on the shield to install the server, added a 2TB newly reformatted NTFS USB harddrive, opened up the server and started it, went to my PC web browser and configured the server to use the added storage and select the guides to be used, it was then ready to go.
I was able to record 6 channels at one time, although at that point the server was getting extremely sluggish. I stopped the recordings and verified they all played perfectly. Then I went to my PC web browser and tried to play a live channel to exercise the transcoder, it had many pauses and would not play smoothly for more than 2 or 3 seconds. I went to the Experimental section and selected Old Transcoder and tried again. This time it worked much better almost no pauses at all. I am very new to running Channels on the shield, so I don't really know if it is capable of transcoding using a USB harddrive, I suspect if I was using a USB SSD, it may work fine.
Prior to this last hotfix, the shield storage interface would have locked up when doing these tests and the shield would need to be rebooted to recover. For me it is fixed, although I have already moved my server to a more capable system and will only use the shield as an alternative.

So from reading here, I'm a little uncertain about the hot fix(es) and so Googled.

From what I read, the current release version is 9.0.1; there has been only 1 hot fix issued for 9.0.1 dated 2/16/22. -- Is this correct? So far no hot fix #2?

Also, from this forum, as far as the effect of the updates, there appears to be no consensus that 9.0.1/HF#1 fixes running the DVR on the Shield with external removable storage (NTFS or exFAT). But, it does appear to be leaning towards the negative.-- also correct?

One last thing. Anybody know if the Shield can read an external HDD formatted as Ext3/4?

From what I can tell it has fixed the external storage issue for me - my server hasn’t crashed since installing 9.0.1 with HF1 and it was multiple times a day prior.

Is there any way to fix this?

I don't have much experience with Shield or the Channels software, but if you haven't installed the Channels server software using the apk file, then you may not have the current released server. The current release (Version 2022.02.09.0020) or newer pre-released versions are the known versions that work with the Shield 9.0.1 with hotfix1.

That is the version I have.

Again, is there any way to fix this? My Shield shows 9.02, not 01.

Can I factory reset the Shield clean and start over and have it work?

What exactly is not working?

Can you post photos of what you see in the server app and client app on your shield? And what do you see on the dvr web UI?

I get "permission denied " whenever I try to watch any channel.

Pictures soon.

Your dvr path is incorrect has a stray backslash \

Uncheck dvr checkbox and fix the path underneath on the web UI
