Nvidia Shield Pro Problem with Channels

Just switched from Apple 4K TV to Nvidia Shield Pro and now each morning when we open the Channels app we have no "Guide" listings or "On Now" thumbnails. We have to do a channels scan to retrieve both.

Any suggestions as to what the malfunction is?

Are you clicking Scan Network or something else? A full channel scan is not required. You could try to quit and restart the app.

What version of the app is running? Look under Settings > Support

are they just blank guide data? or nothing at all, like not even the channel list.

I find that if the app is suspended in the background, you have to force close it, then reopen it to refresh guide. This happpens for me on the Shield and Apple tv from time to time

I'm clicking "Scan for Channels" - if I don't as I indicated above each morning I have no thumbnails or guide listings. This behavior only happens overnight. And yes, I've tried quitting and restarting with zero impact on the issue.

I'm curious, why only overnight does this behavior happen? What system functions happen during the night and not during the day?

is you server set as static ip/dhcp reservation? maybe the client is loosing connectivity with the server if its ip changed.

Blank guide data, but, does have the channel numbers. In On Now no thumbnail images but I can open the channels. Very weird behavior.

It's set to static.

Fully close then re-open the app.
Double press Home button to show active apps, select channels, down button to select the little X, and center button. This actually closes apps.

If that is what you have been doing, and it still shows up as blank data, then something else wrong.
Is your Shield on wifi or wired ethernet? If wifi, then that may be the issue, try wired.
Does the server webpage Admin ui have guide data? Guide data refreshes overnight.

Also, like i said, this happens to me semi-frequently on BOTH Shield and Apple TV, so i always assumed it was normal behavior due to the devices OS suspending or sleeping apps.

You know... after thinking about it I'm almost certain it's a combination of wi-fi and the guide data refreshing overnight. I'll hardwire it tonight to test.

You can click Settings > Support > Submit Diagnostics > Guide Data in the app after it happens

If you're not seeing guide data after force stopping the app, that means there's some issue with your HDHomeRun talking to the SiliconDust servers.

I assume you're using Live TV app only since I don't see a DVR subscription on your account. For DVR subscribers the guide data comes from the DVR server. For Live TV users the guide data comes from the SiliconDust servers.

Problem Solved - the culprit was the wi-fi.
