Nvidia Shield TV Consistently Hangs on Playback of some content

Currently running DVR server on Nvidia Shield TV Pro with pre-release 2021.09.09.1624 due to MSNBC TVE issue (which does appear to be resolved).

I've noticed some content that I am unable to play back on the Shield after it's recorded; for example:

The player app spins for 60s or more, then crashes when trying to view it. This has happened to several other shows in the past week, which I simply deleted as I didn't have time to troubleshoot and suspected file corruption/contention so I upgraded to a WD Black over the weekend (looong format to be sure).

I just realized that I can play this content back via the web player when accessing the server web UI.

Ideas?

This is the same MSNBC issue. You updated your dvr server but not the client app.

I double checked and have 3.5.2 installed on my Shield (latest version in the Play Store).

My iPad which seems to work fine is running 4.5.8 (I guess the versions aren't linked)?

Are you saying I need to install the beta from Settings?

Yes you need 3.5.3 beta or 4.5.9 from the app store
