Odd remoting in question (router upgraded)

redid (updated,upgraded) wifi system.
since original system with internet provider required a login (dont ask but now it doesnt its just delivered directly to home no login required)(some how they ISP, know).
so my previous set up was

  • isp to router (login )
  • router to switch hardwired to rooms
  • mesh system connected at certain room for wifi coverage throughout.
  • worked great.
New setup (since log in no longer requiredI
  • isp to switch
  • swtich hardwired to rooms
  • new routers (mesh) in same rooms
  • Difference is that first router was where i had NAT port forward set up.

Issue

  • i have set up port forwarding on new system (but not sure its even needed).
  • i must reboot computer each time for remote in to work then after a while its stops
here is what i find when i run diagnostics..
    Remote Access

Troubleshooting message.........

XXXXXXXXX.u.channelsdvr.net is pointed atXX>XXX>XX.94 but the current IP for this system is XX>XXX>XX.14

two totally different IPs??? how do i point the channelsdvr net to correct one and make sure it stays there??

thanks in advance...

I might not be following you correctly... But are you saying you have ethernet coming in to your house from your provider and you are going straight to a switch, and after that to your router? You probably need to swap that and go to your router first and then to a switch.

Agree. The main router for you mesh WAN port should connect to the ISP. Switch should connect to one of the routers LAN ports. Mesh nodes can connect to the switch, directly to the router or connect to it via WiFi.

yes you are correct and that was old set up
I thought I could eliminate one (older) mesh
that was right there where isp comes in then (used to) router then switch
now its isp direct switch then routers ....

I thought that would be solution just wanted to avoid putting unit in that physical location (where internet enters house.

thanks for quick weekend replies !!!

The router has to go between the modem or ONT from the ISP and the switch. It either needs to go in the original location or you need to 2 cables runs from the room where the ISP's equipment is to the router, having one attach from the ISP's equipment and the other running back from the router to the switch to serve the rest of the rooms.
