Odd show choices in Automatic Channels

I have an "Educational" Channels Collection with channels like Discovery Science, National Geographic, etc. I have supplemented this collection with automatic channels using this criteria:

One of the shows that is showing up is Jersey Shore. This is pretty much the opposite of Educational!

By process of elimination, I figured out that this stupid show was coming in under the Documentary category. Which brings me to some ideas/suggestions for Channels:

  • On the details screen for any show, can we display a list of categories for which it would fall under?
  • For Automatic Channels rules, can we add a category exclusion? For example, include Documentary but exclude Reality.

What source is it coming from? Pluto is pretty notorious for bad metadata like this. Obviously you can exclude entire sources when designing Automatic Channels but I’d like to be able to exclude just specific channels too.

Yeah, if you’re using Pluto, then it’s best to add it to the excluded sources. Their guide data genres are terrible. The exclude feature was made primarily because of Pluto.

@maddox Yes, I am using Pluto. But I don't really want to exclude ALL Pluto content. Assuming a show can have multiple genres (Can they?) - If the Automatic Channels criteria allowed us to exclude certain genres, would it not be possible to keep Pluto Documentaries while excluding them if they were also Reality?

Maybe when we migrate this stuff to our more robust backend, we'll add deeper rule sets. But for now, we won't be adding anymore kinds of rules. It's already at a lot right now.

They are saying that Pluto doesn't get tagged correctly. So best to add the specific channels from Pluto you want to your collection if you want Pluto channels. But exclude Pluto from the Automatic Channels.
