One channel stopped working, updated server last night, now Channels doesn't work at all

I was having trouble with the Science Channel again not working and it has been that way for over a week. Last night all other channels were working but I had a lull in recording so I decided to update the server to the latest Pre-Release as that is what was suggested the last time I had this issue and now Channels simply does not work. I cannot tune in any channels at all.

I am using Channels with DirectTV streaming and it has been flawless for many many months. I tried restarting the server, rebooting the computer and nothing works. I cannot tune in a single channel on Channels now.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

What client?
Server location?
Have you run the troubleshooter?
Does your client connect to the server?

I don't use a client. Channels doesn't work in it's own web app on my computer and thus will not work in emby which is the only way I use it.

Location? Do you mean where I live? Houston.

The troubleshooter shows everything working fine except "Remote Access" which I am not even sure what that means. It reports:

Could not connect to ee9a725a9dd2.u.channelsdvr.net. Check if the port is mapped.

Server location: Windows, Mac, NAS, docker, native etc etc etc.

I’d fix the port error. I don’t know if that will fix your problem but it’s worth a shot.

I run Channels on a Windows 11 machine and it has worked fine up until this update.

I don't know how to fix the port error, I suppose I just have to forward port 8089 in my router? But that is moot because I do not need to use Channels outside of this house or network. It isn't working on this machine so that cannot be the problem.

I fixed the remote access but as I suspected that changed nothing. Channels does not work in my Chrome browser Channels DVR app so I didn't think that would change anything.

I only use Channels DVR for one thing and that is in emby as a way to schedule and record my content so I can handle it afterwards how I choose. My DirectTV stream is working fine.

I suggest you run diagnostics and report. All of the reported issues this weekend with Directv Stream were on Windows Servers. I’m running Directv Stream on a Synology NAS with no issues on the latest pre-release.

Hope you get your problem fixed.

Try connecting to your channels DVR via it's IP address and port. For example:
http://192.168.2.23:8089/admin/settings/status

So, your not the only DirecTV subscriber having issues with TVE in Channels. And it seems to be for Windows Users.

Isn't that how emby connects and it doesn't work there? If now I have no idea how to do this. Channels DVR won't tune in anything on it's own app even though the troubleshooter says everything is OK so I really have no idea. They obviously broke something in the update and I don't see an option to revert. At least last night I could use all other channels I cared about except the Science Channel.

Well, it is obviously a Windows issue, at least in places because I just fired up my second machine I use occasionally and it has Channels DVR installed on it and it is a completely different build, an older one, and it has not been updated in a long time and it will not tune in any channels either.

It will update the guide data but that is all is seems to do so I really don't know what to do here. I was going to see if the update was the problem and simply use my second machine to record stuff for now until it is fixed but that is not an option.

At present, I don't believe there is anything Windows Users can do but wait for fix.

FYI - There is another Thread in this forum about current DirectTV login issue.

You could run the diagnostics and send the report to Channels. If you have an option of using a Docker install you can try that. (not a recommendation)

I did try attempt to regress to the current Stable version and that didn't work.

Something may have changed on the DirecTV side of the equation, for Windows Users, and all we can do for now is wait for CDVR support to work it out.

This is obviously the issue since neither of my machines have a working Channels DVR and one is Windows 10 and the other 11 with completely different builds and the W10 machine has not been updated in a long time.

It may be time to start using the DirecTV app. My wife uses it all the time and I use for many things that aren't available on TVE.

I must say that I like the clean, and simple interface of the DirecTV app.

I used Hulu Live TV before and it was confusing to find recorded shows vs. on demand vs. Hulu catalog.
The Hulu cloud DVR also stops recording exactly at the scheduled time, which means that a lot of times the very end of a show is cut off. The DirecTV cloud DVR records an extra minute so you get to see everything.

Obviously, the Channels DVR is so much better but the DirecTV cloud DVR is a nice backup.

Just applied the new pre-release v2026.03.31.0051

several, if not all, the TVE channels for DirecTV (Windows) are now working again.

YMMV

If your missing a channel or 2 goto Sources > click on Manage for the source in question > Rescan Channels. This gives the option to just scan and reauthenticate individual channels rather then all the channels.

I applied that 3 hours ago and I still have nothing. I even rebooted my machine. Still nada.
