I just received the One For All remote.
I managed to get it to control my tv and Apple TV.
Is there anyway to program the channel up/down to work with Apple TV?

While we do support this if you have your remote connected to your TV via IR and utilize HDMI-CEC (https://getchannels.com/docs/apps/remote-control/advanced/#hdmi-cec), Apple TV broke up/down key commands via keyboard in 14.2.
We're waiting to see if Apple fixes it with each new build.
Thanks, what released worked? tvOS 14.1?
Yes
I think you can still get this to work if your TV supports it via CEC, as my Sony TV does. Instead of taking the default settings with the One for All remote, instead teach it to do what your TV remote does to change the channel. The One for All has a learning mode that you can use to just aim the other remote at it and press the button you prefer. I did this and is how I got my One for All to bring up the Guide with the red power button, and go to Last Channel with the "*". This works for all the buttons on the One for All with the exception of the pre labeled channel buttons. The documentation says you can learn with those, but I couldnt' get it to work and a call to their tech support didn't solve it. You can only program macros of the other keys on the remote.
CEC capabilities differ by manufacturer. This may work for Sony TVs, but may not for others.
On my Vizio TVs only the Exit, D-pad, Select/OK, and media playback keys are sent via CEC. Channel Up/Down, color keys (Red, Blue, Green, Yellow), Menu, Back, number keys and others do not get sent. (The missing Channel Up/Down keys is really annoying, as pressing those keys will switch the input to antenna and change the channel on that input.)
This is true for my channel up/channel down on my Samsung TV remote.
Right, I realize that, but just wanted to point out to anyone new to the One For All remote that each button can be programmed to control either the Apple TV, TV, or Sound system. So just because Apple took it out of TVos doesn't necessarily mean it won't work. I'm on 14.2 and can use the channel up/down keys to change channels in Channels DVR with the One For All. Its a great little remote for the price for sure.
I can get all to work except channel up/down my Samsung gives me a unavalable message. But my Panasonic the TV remote all works even channel numbers.
Same here
I love this remote. I have one in every room to control my AppleTVs. Sadly LG TVs don’t have many functions that can be controlled.
Il not convinced on this controller. Maybe I’ve just got used to the Apple remote.
As of right now, I have no clue how to program this to do channel up/down or guide buttons etc.
Get your TV to do it first via CEC. Then use the instructions that came with the One for All to learn another remote function. I assigned Guide to the red power button, which I had first assigned to the right most color button on the TV remote. If you can't program your TV remote to do these things then you will not be able to program the One for All to do it. Its a $20 remote... so not going to do what a $200 Harmony will do.
We lost one of our One for Alls last week and it was driving my wife crazy to use either the Apple or Sony TV remotes and she had me go buy another one. I've actually started using the Apple remote and having better success than in the past. The reason I'm doing it is the dang Christmas Tree is in the way so I have to get up from the chair I usually set in to use an IR remote with the Apple TV. I've gotten more proficient at using the Apple remote. But, it can NOT do the things the One for All can do... like Guide and Last Channel.
I have a Samsung. I'm not able to get the Samsung remote to do channel up/down, or guide. So I assume I'm s*** out of luck.
I just got my Function 101 remote and all works out of the box on Samsung TV and the Apple TV. Page UP and Down with the guide and changing channels best for the price. I like it better than the One for All. Maybe I can teach it with the function 101 I will try.
No idea, I have only Sony TVs. The Sony remotes are both brilliant and annoying. They have a lot of buttons that can be programmed to work well with Channels DVR, but then they have key buttons that are TINY, like FF, RW, Play, etc. They also have some very prominent buttons that can't be disabled or reprogrammed like Guide, that takes you into Android TV and you can't stop it. As long as you know what not to touch, it is brilliant. My wife can't seem to avoid the couple of buttons she shouldn't hit so she hates it.
That is great if the channel buttons and Guide work with the Apple TV and Channels out of the box. Price wise though, I would channel it being "best for the price". The One for Alls that I have I paid $19 and $14 dollars for on sale. Hard to beat that for the price.
I paid $24 in best buy for One for All and the Function 101 $29.00 and has a nice grip and no wasted buttons all work.
I can confirm that you can teach the One For All + and - buttons for channel up and down from the Function 101.
Ah... I thought the Function 101 was much more expensive. I don't see it available at Best Buy here. I just reread your original post. I thought you had said it was programmed for Guide, but you meant the channel buttons work with Guide. I like on the One for All having a dedicated button for Guide, Live, and Last Channel too. I use Guide and Live quite a bit when navigating around. But this does look like a good option.
