Ongoing Autoplay issues - Android

I continue to experience issues with Autoplay on my Nvidia Shield Android devices. I am on the most recent pre-release DVR as of today, and I am using the beta app for android which is also up to date. Channels is running on a dedicated Windows Corei7 server.

The problem is that autoplay stalls and doesn't always play the next episode. The autoplay next episode indicator shows in the bottom right hand corner, but the timer stops and nothing happens. Moreover, the screen gets stuck and it won't ever kick on the screensaver on the Nvidia Shield in this state (which troubles me since I have a OLED TV). It does in all other situations, but not when the Autoplay fails.

This doesn't happen all the time, but it seems to occur more on recordings that have been imported via PlayonTV than recorded OTA/TVE shows, but it does not appear exclusive.

Has anyone else experienced these Autoplay issues? Would submitting diagnostics next time it happens help troubleshoot the problem?

Yes we need diagnostics after it happens

Roger that. It happens to my wife a lot when I am not there, but the next time I see it happen, I will send Diagnostics and update here. Thank you.

It just happened again watching "The Nanny" season 3 episode 16. When the show was done and the autoplay timer came up. When it gets down to 1 second it just freezes.

I submitted diagnostics from the client, is there something else I should send?

Please install the v4.2.0 release (or newer beta). I think this bug is already fixed there.

Is this not updated enough? I don't see where it shows the 4.2 version number.

Correct, that is not up to date with the latest fixes.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but don't I just go to the client and setting> support > Update Channels DVR Beta?

Yep

I just updated to the beta below. Problem is still ocurring. I resubmitted diagnostics.

Aman,

Here is a video of the issue (see link below). This seems to occur on every program/series that was added via the Playon integration (shows automatically added by Playon Sync).

As you can see, the autoplay starts the countdown timer as expected, but when it gets to 1 second it just hangs. The screensaver from Nvidia will not kick on when this happens. I can press the button to manually make it skip. and backing out and starting the next show manually works.

Let me know if you need additional info from me and I would be happy to send diagnostics again.

Thanks.

Please try with the latest beta apk and resubmit diagnostics

Will do, I will update and then resubmit diagnostics later today or this weekend. I appreciate the help.

Updated and submitted diagnostics.

If you play that same episode (The Nanny 3x22) from the Library, then seek close to the end, does it get stuck at the end of the recording?

Does it happen every time you play the recording, or only sometimes?

Yes, it gets stuck on the recording regardless if I let it play normally or if I fast-forward to the end. The auto play notice shows up and the countdown timer works. When it gets down to 1 second though it freezes. The only thing you can see on the screen when that happens is the bottom right auto play popup.

I do have some other details that might help track down the issue...

  1. When the auto play gets stuck, if I hit the back button, the screen goes to full black. I have to hit the back button again to get to the episode screen.

  2. When the auto play gets stuck at 1 second, if I hit the enter/select button, it will jump to the next episode. It just won't do it automatically.

  3. This issue happens every single time on ALL PLAYON.TV synced recordings. It doesn't seem to affect TVE or OTA recordings. The issue appears on every episode of every program that was automatically synced/imported by playon.

Let me know if there is something else I can do to help troubleshoot.

If you can send me a recording that will be helpful

Uploaded to dropbox.

Thanks, I was able to reproduce the issue with that sample.

A new beta is going out with a fix.

Looks like this fixed it, thank you.
