ONN 4K Pro + TiVo Stream 4K Remote Thoughts?

I am in the process of switching over to Channels DVR for my second time, and I am putting together the hardware I will need. Does anyone have any experience with the combo of an ONN 4K Pro + TiVo Stream 4K Remote? Or, really any Android TV/Google TV device that performs much better than the TiVo Stream 4K but that will work (mostly) with that remote?

I am an AppleTV user, and I had mine learn the IR TiVo Slide Pro remote, and this is pretty sweet But, I also have a TiVo Stream (and it's nice remote) in a drawer. The TiVo Stream 4K is super slow compared to the current AppleTV (even de-TiVo'd,) but I like the remote enough that I am tempted to get a newer/faster device to run Channels with that remote as a 2nd "tuner" so that I can pause two live things at once like two football games. I do this all the time, and it was one of the reasons I stuck with my TiVo Bolt for so long. I know the Stream 4K remote pairs via Bluetooth with an AppleTV, but so few buttons work (and there's no button mapping app that I know of for tvOS) that I don't consider that a great option. Other than the TiVo Stream 4K, I have no other experience in the Android/Google TV ecosystem.

I guess another thing to think about, Channels new features on Android generally lag behind or maybe don't get added at all to the Android version. I converted from Android over to AppleTV 3 to 4 years ago and I just don't see a reason to go back. Well until Apple really screws it up  Even some of the more modern Android players are still behind AppleTv performance.

I also came over from Tivo Bolt/Edge and miss some of the features it had. But its been so long that it no longer bothers me at all anymore.

I tried to pair the Tivo remote to the ONN, no go. So I just used the whole Tivo unit on another spare tv as is, I hooked it up ethernet and that sped it up pretty good. Believe it or not, its actually faster than the ONN with channels especially when channel surrfing with virtual channels mixed in.

You can use any IR remote with any Android box via a FLIRC.

Here is the remote I'm currently using with my Shield and it's been great!

Thanks for the replies.

What I am debating is what is more important to my overall viewing experience, the OS of my streaming device or the remote control in my hand. I lean towards the remote in my hand, performance and other things being mostly equal. Ideally, someone would've cracked the TiVo Stream 4K remote so that it can work in IR mode with other devices, but it doesn't look like that will ever happen. I would prefer a remote with buttons because my ah4c setup is with DirecTV, and I actually have all those channel numbers memorized, having grown up with the service starting in 1994. But, I know I am probably in a small group of users like that.

My Tivo4K "peanut" remote directly pairs and works perfectly with my ONN 4K+

I use a dtv stream ospray remote with some of my onn pro boxes only downside is I cant reprogram the tv/sound device on them. Can you do this with the peanut?

I am using hdmi control for soundbar audio, plus power on off - I think the latter is IR
