ONN dongle to finalize DVR set up

I've installed all the hardware and software for OTA, antenna, HD HomeRun and Channels DVR, and gotten green :heavy_check_mark: on all troubleshooting items, but can't get Channels to display on my LG flat screen.

Thanks to the comments here I have ordered a ONN dongle to provide the interface with the Channels DVR,
I had mistakenly assumed that the Channels software would facilitate display via Ethernet on the TV, similar to the HD HomeRun interface.

What client are you using? Firestick, Apple TV, etx

Have not yet tried for streaming, just trying to get the DVR to work on OTA from my antenna. The broadcast channels show on the TV as HDHomeRun DMS via Ethernet, and the Channels DVR is recording them, but can't see the Channels DVR on the Ethernet inputs to the TV

In order to be able to play your recordings from Channels DVR on your LG TV, you will have to use a streaming device that you will connect to one of the HDMI inputs of your TV.

See the link that @maddox posted above. That will give you more information so you can decide which streaming device you would like to use.

P.S. @Fofer and I posted at the same time.

Your LG doesn’t have the Channels app installed, because one doesn’t exist for it. You need a streaming device, mentioned in the docs above.

I may be wrong, but have the Channels DVR software running on a dedicated, always on, no fan, Windows computer connected by Ethernet and the TV and HD HomeRun are each connected by Ethernet.
I had understood that Firestick etc was only needed for Wi-Fi connection

You will need an hdmi cable and the hdmi box called "Apple TV" where you can install Channels app

Or you can get a Google TV hdmi dongle, like the "Onn 4K" from Walmart

You need either a firestick, Apple TV, ONN box from Walmart, etc. to plug into your tv's hdmi port. Then download the Channels DVR app (free) then that app will connect to the server.

I think you’ve got everything setup correctly, just no app to view.

Do not pick the paid app - only the free one.

That’s the host server. Now you need a client that connects to it, and presents the content in a user friendly interface on your TV. That’s why an AppleTV or Onn streamer are being recommended to you.

Make sure your CLIENT device is the older fire TV 4k max, and not the newer version. If you go fire TV direction.

On your computer, you can use the new V2 interface to watch TV. Under your login name there is a drop down where you can select V2. Once you are in V2 interface you will see a list of options on the left side. If your computer is near the TV, you could connect it to your TV via a HDMI cable.

You wouldn't have remote control though, you'd need to interface with your computer directlly in order to change channels, pause/play, or do anything else, really.

Wireless keyboard and mouse take care of this. Both the dongle type and Bluetooth with work.

Just get a $20 onn stick from Walmart. Literally, they cost $29, I think, for the 1080p one and call it a day.
Super simple. It'll play channels just fine. Minimal cost, and it's stupid to plug a computer into a TV unless you're running an HTPC. If that's the case, and they want to use a PC, then I would suggest Feral HTPC. That's going to be a way better experience than using the browser.
