Options for two DVRs on one network both with remote access

Started using Channels this past summer and love it. Thanks!

I split time between two homes so remote streaming is critical.

Now I'd like to setup a second DVR for my mom who lives in a third place. So...I'd like both DVRs to be able to stream remotely. I'm happy paying for two accounts and have already setup the second account and configured a server for her.

The tricky part appears to be that all remote streams require port 8089. Is this correct? Is it possible to have one of them use a different port?

If a different port isn't an option I'm wondering what my best way forward is. Things I've mulled over:

  1. Use Tailscale for one of them. Ok but will remote AppleTV work?
  2. Second IP. I actually have a backup ISP circuit so could map one DVR to that. Not ideal for when the backup circuit becomes primary!
  3. Configure the one main DVR so that my Mom can use it. I started with this approach but the configuration got more complicated than I wanted. I really like the simplicity separate users.

Anyone solve this issue already?

Thanks for any ideas...

Your second DVR will need its own additional subscription for remote access. Once you have it setup, email [email protected] and request a different port for the second install, such as 8090. Then when you enable remote access on that second install, set it for a manual forward, and in your router set a rule to forward external 8090 to 8089 on the host running the second instance.

Awesome news.

I've sent the email and configured the second DVR as described. Firewall is configured to forward 8090 to second instance.

And just like that....it's all working. Thanks again!
