I found some posts talking about this and good explanations of Direct vs Stream. Does Direct cause the client inside the home on the same subnet as the Channels DVR computer and HDHomeRun to make a connection to the Channels DVR, or directly to the HDHomeRun? The computer I'm using only has a wifi and ethernet port, and I wanted to put the channels DVR <-> HDHomeRun connection on their own little subnet, but it will mean the clients can't get directly to the HDHomeRun. My Tmobile router doesn't allow Proxy ARP.
Right now I have the wifi and Ethernet port on the same subnet and have a script to delay the Ethernet port coming up until the wifi has its address. It is causing other problems on my network sometimes, and channels is complaining in the log that I have them both on the same subnet.
Just wanted to make sure that all connections to watch shows will use the IP address of the channels DVR and not try to directly connect to HDHomeRun.
Thanks
