Partial migration success

I followed the guide for migrating Channels DVR from one Mac to another.

All the Passes, 126 shows and 99 recordings show as being transferred successfully.

Except that every recording that was made on the old Mac does not work on the new Mac.

Every attempt to play an old recording results in

"The media could not be loaded, either because the server or network failed or because the format is not supported"

The media plays great in VLC so the drive and the file are all good.

It is not a network issue because the files are all local.

So that means an issue with the Channels DVR Server.

I am running MACOS 12.01 and Channels 2021.10.25.1801.

I cannot find any other updates for either so it appears both are current.

Ironically if I add the folder with the unplayable Channels recording as a local media all is good and everything is there and working.

The TV shows all show up in the Recording section are not playable - those showing in local media TV Shows all work fine.

Same files, same folder.

New recordings are going to the right folders and are playable.

So I guess I have a workaround.

But disappointing that the Channels DVR migration failed.

Is the error you mention displayed on the client or from the DVR server log? If a client, I would recommend looking at the DVR web ui log to see what error it is giving.

I'be worked around the issue by adding the recording to Plex and watch them there.

But figured it out - when I did the migration it updated all the passes etc but left ALL the media in the OLD file store and did not copy them into the local file store.

They are on the same drive , Old Channels DRV - Channels DVR

In Channels it expects to find the file in the new file store so errors out

I have moved the files in

and that seems to have fixed the issue.

The Migration tool did not report any errors
