Pausing and Skipping Channels Recording

Channels DVR Server Troubleshooting

Help please I’m having problems with channels recording poorly – I can watch a live tv stream with HDHomerun OK but recordings of the same channel with ChannelsDVR has skipping and pausing. I’ve reinstalled and powered off and restarted all components and I’m at a loss.

Using QNAP 253 pro firmware 4.3.6.0805

Channels 1.03 (Web page ver 2019.01.26.0601)

I'd updated and change Asus Router firmware with no improvement, I then stepped back the QNAP firmware a version I had still pre xmas which I think has resolved the issue BUT i need to know what about the QNAP Firmware update impacts on ChannelsDVR - as I surely cannot be alone here. my log below is a cut n paste from QNAP firmware step-back to present:-

This indicates a bad network connection, or possible hardware failure of a switch or the HDHR.

Basically the DVR NAS is losing its connection to your HDHR and unable to reconnect.

I would advise you to add a static dhcp reservation for your HDHR and double check the Ethernet connections. Are the NAS and HDHR plugged into the same physical switch?

And, by "switch," I believe he means, literally, switch, not "WiFi router." Consumer-grade WiFi routers are notoriously poor at dealing with high bandwidth demands.

Thx tmm1 and jseymour - as mentioned I believe you are obviously both correct regarding network issue but looks to be the NAS itself - once i installed the firmware update thats when I ran into issues. Which I proved by installing the older version and seeing the logs return to normall with no error.

What I'd like to know now is what would have changed indirectly witht he QNAP firmware update that caused the issue as until i identify that I'll be unable to upgrade nas firmware ?!? what a right pickle!!!

Using QNAP 253 pro firmware 4.3.6.0805 causes the issue currently using 4.3.5.0728 which works ok

With no tweaks or settings change apart from retro-installing back to the older firmware.

I am updating my TS-231+ to 4.3.6 to see if this happens for me or not.

@garysteel Does your NAS have one or two ethernet ports? Do you have both connected?
