Philo issues - again?!

Hello all,

I have tried to read all of the applicable past posts about Philo, TVE and missing channels in the Channels app before posting this message. I can't find an answer with a current date-stamp.

I just uninstalled and reinstalled Channels DVR and re-added Philo (my only source).

Before I did that, I believe Philo used to show approx. 117'ish channels available including all three Hallmarks, DIY, History, Lifetime, Discovery, etc.

Now that I've reloaded, I'm only showing 79 channels with all of the channels that we typically watch (again all three Hallmark, Discovery, WETV, Food Network, AMC, etc) showing up as "not authorized"......

I have properly logged into Philo, and can stream them from their app in a browser, so I'm sure they are generally still available.

I've removed and re-added Philo as the source several times and there is no change.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Did I miss something in my re-setup?

Thank you for your help!!

Mike

it might be a redundant question but in the DVR Server when you click to view the Philo channel list (your 79 channels), did you try clicking the "edit" tab? it will bring up the exceptions next to each TVE channel.

from there you will be able to see if it's a subscription, location, TVE not authorized or a 500 internal server error.

you can rescan next to each channel that returns a 500 internal server error and see if it resolves and gives you the check mark then just do an EPG update.

i get channels that drop from time to time on Fubo from the beta updates. the above method usually resolves it or it gets resolved in the next beta.

There is an ongoing issue right now with a lot of the channels that are part of the Warner Bros. Discovery group, including Food Network, Discovery, and more. That affects everybody.

That doesn't include Hallmark though so there is something else going on.
I'm not sure how to help.

Thanks! I did try that - hit edit and rescanned each individual channel that wasn't showing up. I still get the "not authorized" response.

Thank you for that - that helps. At least the Warner Bros issue is "system wide" and not just me! Thank again!

Oh btw - I contacted Philo and guess what - "can't help - they're third party, reach out to them"... :frowning:

Please submit diagnostics after hitting rescan next to one of those channels.

Are you able to login with Philo and watch on watch.hgtv.com ?

Hello

Yes, I can login to Philo and click the link provided and watch HGTV in my browser.

I did a scan of HGTV (got "missing package" error) and Hallmark (not authorized) and submitted the diagnostic.

Thank you for your help and SUPER QUICK responses.....you guys have been great! My power went out and corrupted OS drive so had to reload Win10 and also had to uninstall and re-install Channels DVR. Your quick responses have really been helpful getting things back in order.

This app is AWESOME so I'm looking forward to getting everything straightened out.

Thanks again!

Please scan HGTV again inside Channels after watching on watch.hgtv.com

OK..... I hope I'm doing this right?

I went to watch.hgtv.com in a browser on the DVR server computer, then I rescanned HGTV and sent the logs. I guess I should have included the log number? df894afe-f3d9-4297-b298-335d4b126a51.

Let me know if you wanted me to do something different?

Thanks

Try a different name server and disable any VPN if you are using one. Philo does geolocation and can get touchy if it thinks you aren't in a supported geo.

Thanks john9527. Not using VPN on my Channels machine; I do use it on all others. Without using VPN I'm not sure how to change to a different name server? Is that something "easy" to do ? Thanks!!

Hello Aman - any update on this? I sent the info you requested a few days ago. Thank you!!

Not that I can help you get yours working. But I just setup Philo as a source on my backup Shield Channels server, authorized using Microsoft Edge on a Windows 11 machine. 115 channels were enabled and I have tested most of them. I did not need to do anything else to make it work.

Thanks Michael_Birk! That is very interesting info!! That's what I had before, but now I can't get past 79 channels. I'm thinking if it's working for you, it must be something specific to my PC. Thanks again.
