PIP and LOST CONNECTION question

Hey Guys, from time to time I revisit the picture in picture feature, but then I'm reminded once again why I don't use it. I'm fairly certain now that there is a correlation between PIP and lost connection at the end of a movie or show. When I turn off PIP, the next scheduled show transitions just fine. But if PIP is on, I constantly get LOST CONNECTION when a movie is over.

Is this a known issue? I'm using the Fire TV Cube client btw.

Was hoping people would chime in, "Yeah, I notice the same thing!" LOL! Guess, this is only me? Or, maybe a Fire TV thing?

This is on a virtual channel? Or live tv? We haven't heard widespread reports of such an issue.

Virtual channels... when the show is over, and it's on to the next one, it gives me a lost connection screen, instead of transitioning to next show on schedule. I don't get this issue if PIP is off.

Submit diagnostics from the app after it happens.

Try changing your Settings > Playback > Advanced > Video Decoder

Is there a way to pull diagnostics from my fire tv?

Settings > Support > Submit Diagnostics

Okay, just submitted it. For example, Tremors ended, and Popeye was next, but it says LOST CONNECTION. I realize, all you have to do is hit play. But I'm just curious why we're getting the lost connection, and not transitioning automatically.

I just tested my Tivo Stream 4k today, it basically runs on Google's Android TV platform. It will also get a CONNECTION LOST if PIP is on. So this isn't just a fire tv thing. I'm surprised not many are reporting this. Maybe it's because nobody watches till the end of the credits to see the transition. LOL! Everyone must be changing channels when credit is rolling. LOL!

Okay... I figured out a little more. The lost connection is happening when you set PIP to either APP or SYSTEM under the PIP Availability setting. If you choose GUIDE, then you do not get the lost connection. However, it's not all good news. So as you know the behavior of PIP is like this.... when you are watching something, and you hit the back button to go to the GUIDE, the PIP box will open with your current show. When you choose a new channel, the PIP box will change to the new channel, then you have to hit select again for the PIP to turn full screen. Agree? Okay, well when you set PIP to appear only in GUIDE, when you hit select again so the PIP can go full screen, it will only go full screen for a split second then vanish, you then have to select your movie again in the guide.

So, under this setting, you no longer have the Connection Lost issue when a show is over, but you have this strange quirk when changing channels. One issue for another. LOL!

Hmm... am I the only one with this issue? I can't believe I'm the lone user who has observed this. LOL! It happens on both Fire TV and Android TV OS, so I'm 100% sure it's not a device/brand thing. Perhaps, it works perfectly in Apple TV? I'm waiting for the next Apple TV to be released.

Did you try this?

You mean on my Fire TV? Under Video Decoder... there are options for HARDWARE, HYBRID and SOFTWARE. You mean that, right? I don't think it matters. I've tried it all.

I'd feel less confused if there were more users chiming in either way. Like, their PIP is working perfectly fine. Or, their PIP is having the same issues. But nobody is chiming in here. Not many use this feature?

yes

okay thanks.

i know it works better on Apple TV. it may be some issue with specific version of FireTV. but in general there are more weird bugs on Android/Fire TV
