PiP breaks when switching to another feed

I have PiP set to live TV only, and get this issue consistently when changing to a recording.

To reproduce:

  1. Set PiP to live only
  2. Start a live feed
  3. Go out to menu screen (live stays in PiP)
  4. Select an item from the library to watch

The PiP goes black, no sound, but it at least tries to play the video, as the next time you play the same item, you're asked to confirm start from beginning/resume.

I’ve seen this happen a couple of times. I’m suspecting that it may be related to HDR. Any chance you have your Apple TV set to SDR with match content on?

I do, but neither side of the channel change is subject to a range or resolution change, at least I don’t think.

Ok I think in my case I’ve seen if the pip window is open and the new content I select is hdr the
Window turns black and just spins. At that point even if I make it full screen it is stuck. I have to back out and relaunch it with pip not in effect and then it plays fine. This didn’t happen when I had my Apple TV permanently in hdr mode.
