When you enter the library tab, you see a summary of all shows recorded with a little number in the top right corner displaying the total number of episodes recorded of that particular show. I would like to be able to highlight this and hit play. The system would then just start playing episodes until I hit stop... If I hover over a show that has 23 episodes recorded, I can just hit play and it will start playing the episodes one after the other without stopping until they have all played or I stop it.
Which device/platform are you requesting this on?
Android tv
Is there a difference between Android TV and Android in general (phone, tablet, etc)? If so, both please.
I thought that badge was the number of unwatched episodes, not the total number recorded. On my system that number only reflects unwatched episodes.
You are likely correct... I made an assumption about what the number represents. That is good to know!
While I do not agree with this specific request, I do like the root idea behind it.
While in the Library:
- For items in the Up Next, pressing Play will play the indicated episode
- For TV programs, pressing Play on its tile would play the oldest/next unwatched episode
- If the TV program has no unwatched episodes, it will play the oldest episode
- For movies, pressing Play starts playback
The difference from the OP is that my request is simply to allow a single episode to play, not a sequence/playlist of episodes. (I believe that the OP's request would be satisfied if Auto Play were available on Android platforms.) In any case, immediate playback—bypassing the Detail modal—would be a welcomed/expected behavior of pressing Play while in the Library.
We have something like this on Apple TV if you click and hold on a show. It takes advantage of the Auto Play feature, so you'll have to wait until that comes to Android TV.
