Play on VLC from remote server

I think I have searched the forum fairly thoroughly (I apologize if duplicate) but I am trying to use the vlc links feature via web interface away from home. So I can play remotely on the web via my.channelsdvr.net just fine. I cannot get the stream to open in vlc remotely. Is this possible? Is there possibly an auth issue or such? Any help would be awesome.

To give a little more info I'm simply trying to output to a chromecast client when I am away from home. VLC seems to be the most direct solution I could come up with for this. Thanks.

Sure is using session id cookie but it would be a lot easier to use a client with the channels app remote. Is there something stopping a device remote?

i just have a phone and a chromecast ultra. i could mirror the entire phone screen but that seems less than ideal. so i guess to answer your question i don't have a client that supports the channels app?

I would strongly suggest even a cheap android device like the onn android tv but if you want to push through with VLC here is a thread that will help get a m3u into VLC. Cookies only last 30 days so you have to redo the url when it expires
