Playback doesn't work on Safari (Mac and iPad)

@photosmike The logs do not show anything usefu. You need to check the Activity section on the Settings tab like previously mentioned.

Ok it looks like an issue on the video player side.

Next time it freezes, leave the video player open and go to the DVR server. Browse over to your DVR’s recordings folder. There’s a folder called Streaming inside. Right click it in Finder, click “Compress” and the send me the resulting zip file.

Sent Zip File

I will look at the zip files and see what’s going on. No need to post logs anymore, they do not have anything useful in them.

Thanks,

Let me know if I can help any more.

I was able to reproduce the hang in Safari with the zip files you sent me. I’m not sure yet how to fix it.

Any progress. Now I get freezes on both live and recorded. On ATV and the web UI.

@photosmike In the latest version, on the web admin Settings you can switch to the Software transcoder. Can you see if that fixes the stall issue you’ve been having?

It’s a great improvement. It works without a glitch on live programing. It mostly is good on replaying recordings. All this at 720p to my iMac. 1040p worked on live but, not replay of recordings.

Cool. I also released 2017.01.21.0059 a few minutes ago, which made some improvements. Try the Hardware setting again on that version, and see if you still run into the problem you were seeing before.

Loaded 2017.01.21.0059 and playing live it would freeze. This was using both Hardware and software. The bottom of window showed it playing. Even gave a rate of 1x.

From what I can tell, I am having the same or Very similar issue with WebGUI playback remotely. I am running ChannelsDVR Version 2017.01.25.0441 on 2012 Mac Mini 2.3/16/SSD on macOS Sierra 10.12.3 and files are saving to NAS as just a big disk and using HDHR Prime with 3 tuner CableCard. Mac is hardwired to router which has the NAS and HDHR plugged into it directly as well. I have an iPhone 7 on iOS 10.2.1 official release and I am using the Safari browser. I have also tried on my Moto X Pure updated to latest OS 6.0 and latest security patch. I use a previous gen Airport Extreme (N) Router

I have WebGUI set to hardware (tried software also) with lowest quality setting (240p)

Plex works fine transmitting remotely, Channels on aTV seems to be working fine other than some stuttering intermittently (can’t figure that one out - strong signal coming from HDHR with CableCard), I stream other media out remotely over Cellular LTE with 60x40 Down/Up. My personal connection is 50x5 in house. No other outgoing streams/data sending out that could interrupt.

This was working fine with my first download of ChannelsDVR on Jan 20 '17. WebGUI ran beautifully other than a little stuttering here and there.

What happens now is that in Safari, on cellular, the web GUI Starts the transcoding and shows the seconds. The seconds keep going up and shows the transcoding speed at 3x and then slowly goes down to around 1.05-1.5x. The video never starts to play. This happens on live and recorded video. If I use Software, it will start to play for a few seconds and stop and never continue.

On the Moto X it will actually start to play in Chrome for a few seconds and then stop and usually never start back. Every now and then it will start back but rare.

This is my most recent test on Software xcoding…

I have my recordings/Streaming folder on my NAS and it is over 1GB zipped. How should I proceed?

This sounds like a different issue. Can you email in the channels-dvr.log file to support@getchannels.com

You can delete everything in the Streaming dir

Done. Thank you!

and sorry, I meant to post in Playback Issues in Web UI (Mac hardware transcoder)

I got my tabs confused.

I believe this issue is resolved. If you’re still having problems, please open a new thread.

Good to go! Thanks!!!
