Playlist limited to first 50 items

Hi - I see in the latest server updates a line that says "A large amount of items in a Playlist was overrunning the browser. The list is now truncated to the first 50 items in the Playlist"..

I have playlists with more than 50 items. How do I see beyond the first 50? I want to move items in my playlist around in the order they're currently in..

Thanks!

Hmm good point.

The challenge is that with Smart Rules, you can possibly get thousands of items in the list, which takes down the browser.

How many items do you think are in your playlist?

I think the original thought was anything over 50 wouldn’t likely be manually curated like that. But I understand it’s certainly an issue for your case.

I have a few playlists with 200+ titles (full calendar years of 5 episode-per-week shows). One problem is, when I find a dated episode I was missing, I'll add it but it goes to the bottom of the playlist and now I can't even navigate to it to move it up into the order I want.

I understand that might be a bit unique and not worthy of a feature request. I truly appreciate Channels and can just live with it if needed.

Could you just use the sort to order them automatically?

I’d like to order by date released, that would get them in the order I want because I want them chronological by air date..but they’re all imported and don’t have release date saved in their metadata. I have hundreds, there’s not a way to import like a .csv that has release dates or other metadata is there? Kinda like the reverse of the export Channels can do..?

Are these videos or tv series? TV Series are imported with metadata for each episode, which should include original air date. Are they not getting indexed correctly?

They’re videos

Should you be importing them with a TV personal media source? You called them tv episodes.

Or are they actually internet videos that can't be indexed with the metadata indexer?

It’s an old daytime soap that Gracenote and TheMovieDB just doesn’t have anything on. Unique I know. The filename is the month day and year I believe the episode aired (e.g. “March 2, 1983.mp4”. There is just no sXXeXX naming convention for these, that’s why I treat them as just videos.

If you changed their filenames to 1983-03-02.mp4, the dates would be the titles, and you'd be able to sort by alpha.

Though I suppose you're using that format specifically so that their titles are more readable in the app.

I’ll try that, thanks! I could also make playlists for a certain month and year instead of whole year..those would never have more than 23 in a playlist.

Is there no way to incorporate playlists into virtual channels anymore? I looked for an answer on this on the forums but didn't find. I created playlists by year-month to work around the 50 or less update, but I'd like to create virtual channels for specific years and be able to play them in chronological order.
