Has anybody used Playon Cloud heavily with Disney+ or Netflix, that can speak to any issues, or lack thereof, with triggering notices about account sharing? Since the the IP seen by the services is Playon's IP address, I wonder if this would make the traffic look like the sharing of the account. I thought there was a thread on this from back when Disney+ and Netflix started cracking down on account sharing, but I couldn't it (and now that it has been a while, I thought maybe there'd be some real-world experience).
I don't know anything since I'm the only guy in my house that uses this. Probably for the best to just download whatever you buddies want and share your Channels DVR server with them (which won't get you in trouble) so that they could watch
I use it with Netflix, but I'm not a heavy user. I have never gotten any error messages.
I think what he is trying to say is that when PlayOn Cloud records, the service it records from (Netflix for example) sees the PlayOn Cloud server IP address as the client doing the streaming. That would be different than your home or phone/tablet IP addresses.
I've only used it with Prime, but I recommend giving Cloud a try with those other services before taking on the Home headache. (Saw your post asking about that.)
Be careful with PlayOn. I was a lifetime member of the original PlayOn. Then they changed the name and format, kept my money, and wanted me to rejoin the new format and pay up again.
Yeah that refers to PlayOn Desktop switching over to PlayOn Home. That’s always been a different product than PlayOn Cloud, though. And since PlayOn Cloud can be used a la carte without any subscription fee there’s not much to be concerned about.
How do you use PlayOn Cloud without a monthly fee?
you pay for credits and use those credits a la carte to pay for each recording you make. The credits don’t expire.
I currently have 384 credits that do not expire, but I also pay for a monthly plan. Are you saying I can cancel my monthly plan and continue to use my existing credits until they run out?
The monthly plans are for cloud storage. You don't need storage because the recordings are immediately downloaded to your DVR.
Yes that is what I'm saying. I've never paid for their monthly plan.
Wow! I thought I had to keep the monthly plan to keep using my credits. I never saw anything on their web site that led me to believe otherwise. I'm going to cancel my plan now. Thanks.
BTW, Today only they are having a sale: 250 credits for $25. That is $0.10 per credit. I have never seen them for a lower price at this volume level. I would buy some, but my current stockpile should last me another year.
Thanks for the heads up on the credit sale. PlayOn Cloud is a super simple way to download from the streaming sites and the CDVR integration rocks. I really only use it to download those movies and shows my granddaughters want to watch over and over and over again. It's an easy way to let them watch what they want to on their tablets and not have them take over my tv or use up all the available streams on those services.
