Those are the same errors that I was getting see:

New Issue with PlayOn TV recordings

@Edwin_Perez What player are you using on the FireTV? What Decoder settings are you using?

Hardware

I do have one FireTV client and I can confirm that the 1080p video did play, with no issues. But, IOS and the Web UI are no go.

Thanks for the details. Looks like there's something about the ffmpeg decoder that can't handle something about the way these videos are encoded.

Yes, it is odd because I know it did work with 1080p in the past.

I have been using PlayOn Desktop forever, since before there was a ChannelsDVR. Even before there was a Plex in the Popcorn Hour days, way back in the day. I Have good news for all of you PlayOn Desktop users or those that do not want to pay Alacarte for PlayOn Cloud.

PlayOn Desktop still exists, and it works well.

Recently they added 1080p to the quality options. Yes, it is true that there are far fewer streaming apps that work with PlayOn Desktop, but it is the same ones that work with PlayOn Cloud. As for using PlayOn Desktop with ChannelsDVR; yes, all you need to do is add the PlayOn output folder to the ChannelsDVR Personal Media folders as a local folder or network share. It works fantastically in ChannelsDVR including commercial skipping! I primarily use PlayOn Desktop to "wash out" commercials on Hulu, ABC, NBC, CBS, and now Prime as well. Works like a champ, unlimited recordings, 1080p, I do not have to pay extra for ad-free tiers on the other apps.

Unfortunatley the handwriting is on the wall. It is going to get harder and harder for PlayOn, Cloud or Desktop, to continue as the streaming apps continue to lock down on sharing and stream ripping. It takes money & time to develop and stay ahead and stay relevant. Hopefully for a few more years PlayOn Desktop/Cloud will continue. There is nothing out here like it. PlayOn Desktop is easy, always has been easy. Set it & forget it. Like a Plex pass, PlayOn is a fantastic addition to your cord cutting tech stack with ChannelsDVR as the hub. I would love to see ChannelsDVR and / or Plex add the stream dvr functionality that PlayOn offers. A buy out or merger??? Hmm wouldn't that be grand.
Remember.. sharing is caring :yin_yang:

Dude. . . Playon Desktop was dicontinued. They said **** You to all the lifetime subs and renamed the software Playon Home.

They will NEVER have my business again.

Also Playon Desktop is capped at 720p. Idk about Playon Home. I refuse to give then my money after a lifetime sub. **** playon.

Im still salty.

PlayOn cloud has been having ffmpeg issues for a while now. It's never caused me to have a problem viewing videos (though I don't tend to watch them in channels, I use channels to download then remove the commercials with mcebuddy and move them to plex) but it has caused problems with removing the commercials in MCEBuddy. There will often be issues with the audio after this. The sometimes skipping the remuxing will fix the issue and sometimes it won't. Playon has been made aware of this issue by MCEBuddy users, but have always claimed that because the video was playable using some software, that it wasn't their problem. I was thinking of switching to home (the desktop replacement), so I'd be curious to know if this is also a problem with playon home videos.

I no longer use Playon.

Not sure if MCEBuddy handles VFR (Variable Frame Rate) video that PlayOn encodes to.
My video editor can't do clean edits (VideoReDo) on them, so I stopped using PlayOn.

When it first stared someone on the mcebuddy forum determined that PlayOn Cloud was creating mp4s with defective moov atom structures which is what was causing the issue. PlayOn shrugged its shoulders. The consider that if the video is playable it’s not their problem. It may be that something similar is causing this issue. If I didn’t have so many credits I’d try something else.

I don't think that there is a lot of difference between Cloud and Home versions, but that just a guess on my part. I'm using the Home version, and have not seen audio issues. I don't use MCEBuddy, but I do clean up commercials in the videos before putting them out where my Plex server can see them. The last bit of post-processing I do on my Playon videos is to run AtomicParsley on them to set metadata.

Yeah...that's the reason why I don't use PlayOn anymore. Too resource intensive and too buggy...
