I apologize because I am sure this is already a topic but I couldnt find anything that answers my question via search. I have Plex but never used it. I have a family member that shared with me old remastered home videos and they shared it via Plex. Is there a way for me to add that as a source? I see people mentioning M3u but unfortunately I dont know what that means yet. Any help to get me started would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
Hi,
Channels doesn't support home movies so you are better off just using the plex app to view them.
I see people with Plex listed as a source though, is that just their live TV then? And not sure what you mean, I have added several movies to my channels DVR.
Home movies aren’t supported at the moment. The importer assumes they are actual movies and will attempt to index them that way.
I don’t care if it indexes correctly though. I see people with Plex as a source, I just want to figure out how to do that.
There is no way to add a remote Plex library as a source.
Any mentions of source are either related to their live tv streams, or talking about adding local plex libraries into Channels DVR via Local Content.
If the library is shared then you should be able to download them to your PC or server & then you can add them into Channels the same way you have added your movies. The family member may need to give you access to download though.
They didn’t give me the option to download and I was too much of a newbie with Plex to know if this was an option. I’ll ask them to update my access and go about it this way. Thanks everyone!
Any updates on this subject? Would really like to use my brothers library as a source.

There’s zero plans on using a Plex library as a source. Remote or local.
