I choose the thumbnail option in channels DVR recordings I also chose the detect commercial options. Recordings brought into plex skip commercials the same way as if I have recorded them in plex. Super happy 
I used to be an avid Plex user and have a lifetime subscription but gave it up a few years back when I discovered this. Plays 100% of my movie / tvshow collection without stuffing around with transcoding (Plex always had random issues). Free to air and IPTV streams is an exceptional experience with Channels DVR. I use Dispatcharr as the intermediary for generating the M3U and EPG and sorting etc and even my wife who hates technology loves the interface and how easy it is to record and have commercials removed. I think the cost is pretty fair although a lifetime would be great addition
