Possibility of a Game Skip option for the Super Bowl

My Old Tivo had an option to do a Game Skip for the Super Bowl for those of us who were only interested in the commercials on game night.

Any chance this could be a temporary feature each year for Super Bowl games?

You just need to enable the feature.... on the "getting your TV ready" screen, type A+B+A+C+A+B+B using your game pad (or keyboard).

I have the Channels Plus server software installed on a Synology DS1019 and all my client devices are Nvidia Shields.

All software versions are current and I am not running any beta releases.

I don't see a "getting your TV ready" option in either the server window or in the client apps.

The game is already scheduled to record.

Can you provide a few detailed steps where to look and whether I want to be looking on the server or on the client app?

Thanks in advance.

It was a joke, as there is no such option.

However, since Channels marks the commercials already, just set the commercial skipping to manual in the client, and then use the remote to manually skip over the content ("game") to advance to the next marker, which would be a commercial segment.

Or, if you want to make extra work for yourself, edit the commercials in the web UI or in an Apple client to reverse all of the segments: mark the game segments as commercials, and mark the commercial segments as the program.

Generally you can find a Youtube video of nothing but the commercials. Let someone else do the work.

I can't imagine that the developers are going to add a feature for one show that airs once a year. And, how many users watch it and would want this feature? Skipping ahead isn't that hard with the remote, so why not just skip through the game to the next commercial break. The timeline gives you an idea where they should be. It can't possibly take that long to do it. With an Apple TV, the Siri remote would make quick work of it. And like was mentioned, you can probably also find on YouTube a video of just all the commercials that someone will put out there.

I appreciate everyone informing me how to watch the Super Bowl commercials.

Unfortunately, I don't have a problem in that area and I am not in need of additional suggestions.

Please understand that I was simply asking someone in the development team if this could be a feature coded in for one of the biggest TV events of each year.

I only ask because it is an already established feature on Tivo units, like I mentioned in my initial question.

As far as I'm concerned, Channels Plus is the most full featured DVR software on the market.

Tivo thought this idea was a fun feature to add 3 or 4 years ago, most likely as a marketing ploy.

I thought it was at least worth asking the development team if they had considered doing the same at any point.

With or without this feature being added, I don't need further suggestions on how to watch only the commercials during the Super Bowl.

After all, I could always plug my Tivo Roamio back in and use this feature where it already exists if I wanted to.

In most area's, Channels Plus kicks the rear end of Tivo, Emby, and Plex.

It would be cool if they also equalled Tivo in this one tiny area.

If not, no big deal.

Hopefully a dev will still respond to my actual question.

As an official response: No, this won't be added this close to the Super Bowl or ever really. Features like these are a distraction from working on the huge list of items we have to deliver to you guys and tend to create surfaces for bugs anyways.

We love the gag, but there are more important things on the table. Thanks for the kind words!
