Possible to move database & content from Synology NAS to Windows?

I have tried the “/restore” option many times on fresh copies of the data from the source NAS, and the Channels DVR software just redirects the browser to http://127.0.0.1:8089/admin/settings. The DVR checkbox is unchecked. If I try to check the DVR box, it sees the copied data, but once it’s all set up the previous contents are unavailable. At this point I’ve seen it delete everything automatically and start fresh, and I’ve seen it start “fresh” without deleting the previous contents from the disk. I have no idea what prompted each reaction.

Any ideas?

What does the Log tab say?

What do you mean unavailable?

Huh. So it deletes all the recordings for no reason? What about your passes, are they deleted too?

What does the Log tab say?

Log is as follows if I manually check the DVR box and set my directory:

What do you mean unavailable?

By unavailable I mean the contents from the previous DVR are on the disk, but the Settings tab says “0 passes, 0 shows, 0 recordings”. This has only happened once. Most of the time the data from the NAS is completely removed from the disk as is shown from the log above. I’ve attempted this 4 times total.

Huh. So it deletes all the recordings for no reason? What about your passes, are they deleted too?

Yeah, everything is removed, it’s like a new install.

I don’t see anything unusual in the log you posted. It looks like our settings got imported when you started the DVR, since it knows what guide database you’re using.

You’re saying immediately after restoring and starting DVR, you see it says “X passes, X shows, X recordings” but then suddenly that turns to 0?

Let me start over and I can describe it a little better. It’ll take about an hour to copy everything over again. Is there anything else I should be paying attention to during the restore process?

Thanks a lot for your help

You don’t need to copy stuff over multiple times. I think the restore UI is broken. When you go to /restore, it should show you a UI with a list of all your backups. It seems like it’s just taking you back to settings instead?

Yeah it just redirects me to the Settings tab no matter what I try

Same thing for me. Version 2018.08.28.2059. Trying to restore but it just immediately redirects to settings.

I’m on Ubuntu Linux server.

Will have a fix shortly.

ISTR that’s what was happening to me when I tried to move from Linux to our Synology NAS. I figured I was just doing something wrong and, since we really didn’t have anything much worth saving, I just moved on by starting from scratch.

A fix is available. Hold SHIFT and click Check for Updates

Just upgraded and the restore option worked perfectly for me now. Thanks!

Holy crap that was quick, thank you so much. I will upgrade, restore and report back.

Yep, that did it, I was able to get everything restored as expected. Thank you very much!
