I just finished recording a 13-season show via PlayOn, and for some inexplicable reason the provider decided to add "Season 13" to the name of the show for the last season, resulting in an (understandably) unidentified extra show in Channels. I moved and renamed the files to match the rest of the show, but I don't see any obvious way to poke the PlayOn scanner. Is it possible, or do I have to move the whole show to Imports?
Please submit diagnostics so we can see what happened.
You would need to move the episode into the Imports directory. You only need to do so with the one that didn't scan properly.
In my opinion this isn't a problem with Channels since the names were incorrect from the source. I was just curious about the correct way to tell Channels to pick up the renamed files.

Example from the last season:
Murdoch Mysteries - Series 13 - s13e08 - The Final Curtain
I ended up moving everything to Imports and all is well.
