I went to create a new pass and noticed that there were multiple channels that the show was listed for. I then went to my guide to test the first channel that it was listed on and it had a weak signal. So I closed the app, went to the web admin page and removed that channel from the guide lineup. Opened the app back up on my ipad and checked on the guide that the channel was no longer there. I then went to create the pass again but that channel that I removed was still listed as the first channel. What I’m curious is what would the DVR do in this instance?
Chances are that the guide data was still present. Passes are reevaluated when then guide is updated, which happens every morning. You can force a guide update, which will then reevaluate the passes; or just wait until tomorrow.
(Because of stale entries, whenever I change/modify my lineup, I make a habit of using the "Delete and Recreate Guide Database" option to ensure all changes are picked up.)
I did force a guide update…but the show was going to record tonight which could have potentially been missed. I was just bringing something to light that could cause a missed recording.
Thanks for sharing.
One of my goals for 2022 is to rewrite the guide database using some of the newer techniques we're using to power the library search and smart rules.
I will make a note to make channel hiding reflect in the guide data and passes instantly, which will be easer with the new system.
I know doing what you did strictly from the web UI works correctly.
My guess is the iPad app didn't refresh something needed from the server.
If you pause and resume a pass in the web UI, it re-evaluates any changes you may have made.
Not sure if that can be done from the app.
