I'm pretty sure that everyone who has tried the TVE integration loves it as much as I do! I know the Channels team goes out of their way to do things by the book, so I don't have any concerns about the legality of the TVE integrations. But as with any product like this, there is the potential for abuse such as TVE login sharing. Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are on this? Do you think TVE (or cable providers, or individual networks) will eventually take steps to block login sharing or possibly even the entire integration?
Apps like PlayOn have been doing this for quite some time, and people have been sharing Netflix passwords regularly (in fact Reed Hastings has almost encouraged the practice). There is newer software and companies that have recently emerged that are focused on limiting the practice; how many of the media companies will actually implement these new technologies remains to be seen.
I don't think so. The networks are still getting paid. I would be more concerned with Channels allowing Xtve/Telly
I think password sharing happens a lot already. Not sure this would add much.
The only potential issue here is TVE providers implementing multi factor authentication schemes to validate logins. Right now 2FA/MFA are optional security features for major provider logins (Xfinity is the primary example) but it's always possible the the providers will require this of all TVE logins. Only time will tell.
Only issue if they did that is the trouble it will cause developer teams of the individual tv apps.
