Power mgmt Settings for MacBook Pro

Hi,

I have Channels DVR running on an old MacBook Pro sitting in a cabinet by the TV. The lid is closed and I have the power settings set so that the MacBook stays awake the whole time with the display off and runs Channels DVR. It's working, sort of and that's why I am here. Occasionally, the MacBook Pro really goes to sleep and when I fire up the Channels App on my AppleTV it can't find the DVR server.

Is there a guide to the correct power save settings for DVR Server running on my MacBook Pro?

I thought that Channels DVR includes an auto-wake helper app, but it sounds like that’s not working for you? Awhile back when I used an old MacBook Pro as a server for other purposes, I used this tool with good results:

Another newer option I have read good things about: ‎Amphetamine on the Mac App Store

I actually did not know of the auto-wake helper. I found the "Install auto-wake helper" link and clicked it. Let's see if that works better. Thanks for your help!

How did you know to install that? I thought I followed all the installation steps. Is there something I should have read?

I'm not sure, it's been a long time since I installed. I've just seen mention of the auto-wake helper here in this forum from time to time. My current CDVR server is an M1 Mac mini that's always on.

Oh man! :flushed: Thanks for this! I would have thought I did this already but...

Well, I tried the auto-wake-helper. It worked for a few days...until yesterday! So I will now try Caffeine or Amphetamine. Why is sleeping or waking so hard?
