Problem with HDHomerun firmware 20200521?

For the first time in two years, my HDR4 stopped working. It completed disappeared from the network (fixed IP btw) and I had to reboot it to bring it back. Coincidently, I did update to the latest firmware last weekend. Network status light was green and also the link seemed to work form the switch.

Anyone else had this?

Thanks!

Have not heard anything like this. You should email [email protected] with your HDHR device ID

Thanks!

I'll contact them if the problem comes back.

My HDHR Quatro has been on 20200521 since it was released now and has never had any issues. weird.

Have the same setup. No problems on the same firmware. If you're using a static IP is the IP outside of your DHCP pool? Have you looked in your router logs for any information?

The only thing I can see in the log is "network is unreachable" around noon but otherwise nothing else and the wife never complained about a connection lost.

Yes it is on the same network pool as the other devices.

The only thing I'm guessing is a glitch because I recently upgraded my NAS to a Synology DS720+ and now running DVR channels service on it. I also upgraded to an EDGEMAX 4 router so maybe one of the devices is trying to steal the tuner's IP.

I'll release all the IP's and reboot the router and see how it goes.

Thanks to all!

I assume u mean, EdgeRouter ER-4.

I have same router, if it is setup properly (they are not for normal consumers) should be fine. I have not had any issues with any HDHR and my ER4.

My lazyness is catching me up i guess. I should have had shut down all devices on the network before changing the router; yes ER-4 btw.

Thanks to all!

Wonderful community here!

Do you have devices with static IP's? I keep losing my tuner on the network and I don't know why. It wasn't doing that with my Netgear.

The router log also reporting bunch of duplicated IP's from the same mac address.

All this seem to have started around noon yesterday after a power failure...

Any ideas for me? Thanks!

No. I use the Static Lease option.
Sounds like you have may have a router configuration issue, check that your static IP is not leased to some other device or that it is not in the DHCP pool etc, basic things like that.
(If you do not know how to manage/troubleshoot a UBI router....well, this is not the place to get instructions.)

You say the HDHR started doing this after a power cut, it could have gotten a surge and be damaged perhaps.

If this is specifically an issue with your HDHR, and/or your router, I suggest taking further troubleshooting to the HDHR and Ubiquiti forms.
I do recall " device falling off network" was a big and popular topic thread over there for long time with the Prime Tuner.

I'm also using the Static Lease option under the Service tab, fairly easy to do from the UI actually. I own two of those UBI routers for a couple of years and I'm fairly comfortable managing the settings. And I wouldn't ask troubleshooting help for my router under an inappropriate forum though...

But all this remembers me a network conflict from one nasty TP-Link printer server causing all kind of issues and especially kicking out my tuner from the network! That device doesn't like to have a static IP assigned by the router...

I will explore that route and close this thread by an happy ending if that is the case.

Thanks for helping!

I am on that firmware and have no problem.

Model: HDHR4-2US
Firmware: 20200521

A network conflict is what I was alluding to in my post. I use static mapping for my addys so I know exactly what's being handed out. I don't have a floating pool b/c I like knowing what IP's are for each device.

It's easy to handle under Pfsense though, maybe not so easy with a SOHO router.

I promised to reply back if I had an happy ending!

And I did.

As I was suspecting, and the second time actually but I just didn't remember the first time, this TP-Link TL-PS110P network print server was the issue.

All I did is to unplug it from the network and 15 minutes later or so, the tuner came back by itself and remained available since.

Now, for the ones who are still suspecting a network IP conflict, no it wasn't because both had a different static ip mapped. And the print server was set to obtain an IP from the DHCP like all the other devices on my network.

This print server always caused strange things on my network but nothing showed in logs so it remained a mystery.

Thank you!
