Tonight, Hallmark was scheduled to air the new movie, Taking a Shot at Love, but pre-empted it with a movie in honor of the passing of Betty White called, The Lost Valentine. I'd like to update the name of the movie and its details to reflect that discrepancy. Is there a way to do it?
You'd have to rename the file and move it to the your Imports directory, so Channels will treat it as a different item. (You will also have to "delete" the recording, but since you're moving the file, nothing gets deleted, just the reference to it in the recordings database. You may also want to find it again in the guide and mark it as not recorded, so when the actual movie airs it will record it.)
Sounds great.
I've never used the Imports function. Can I just copy the file to the Imports->Movies folder, rename it, and then delete the movie from the library? What triggers the import of programs in the imports folder? Just their presence?
Edit: Hey, that worked! In just minutes. Now, I see the file is still in the Imports->Movies folder. Will it eventually be moved or will it stay there indefinitely?
Thanks!!
Yes
Yes, Channels DVR scans for new Imports every 5 minutes.
You can have it scan manually from the DVR web UI Local Content>Maintenance>Gear>Scan Sources
It will stay there until you delete it (Trash/Empty Trash in Channels speak).
It should now appear in your Library>Movies and DVR>Manage>Movies.
That's interesting...
I have a pass to record all new Hallmark movies and my DVR didn't record anything on Hallmark tonight. I checked my list of recorded movies and no signs of "Taking a Shot at Love".
My source in Channels DVR is TV Everywhere with DirecTV credentials, which gives me access to Hallmark.
I'm thinking my guide data was updated in time with the latest changes from Hallmark. I'm not sure, but that would explain why my DVR didn't even try to record it.
I'm curious, what is your source?
By the way, I just searched the guide now and "Taking a Shot at Love" is scheduled to air on Monday, 01/17/2022 at 6 PM.
Right now, it's not showing the movie as new in the guide. I'm not sure if the guide will be updated by then. Just in case, I just scheduled it manually to record. You may want to do the same.
Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
You can check zap2it.com for your local lineup (it goes back one day) to see if it aired.
Shows it aired this afternoon in my lineup, but wasn't marked as "New".
My source is Xfinity Comcast in the Seattle area (Bothell Lineup). I don't haven't moved over to streaming subscriptions yet, so I use TiVos, Windows Media Center, HDHomeRun DVR, and ChannelsDVR. WMC gets its guide data from Schedules Direct, TiVo gets its guide data from Rovi, and I believe the HDHR gets its guide data from Gracenote. None of those guides showed the correction in Hallmark's schedule. However, all but the TIVos (guide data only went to 1/14) showed the 1/17 airing of Taking a Shot at Love.
Thank you for the information, @chDVRuser and @tluxon .
Guide data from Zap2It:
Guide data from Hallmark's website that also includes past days (I didn't know until I checked just now):
I believe that TV Everywhere gets all its source data (video stream + guide data) from the network's website, which does explain why my DVR didn't record.
Mystery solved!
The stream comes from the network's website, the guide data comes from Gracenote (where zap2it.com also gets it from).
Thank you for the clarification.
Mystery not solved then.
Anyway, I'm not going to lose sleep over this.
Moving on with life.
