In recording programs on Britbox Mysteries, I found that the the EPG doesn't reflect the actual start and end times of many series. I haven't yet worked out exactly what the time difference is but to give an example, when I watch the recording, it shows a good part of the previous program then of course ends before the recording ends. I have to watch the next recording to see the ending (it could be about 5-10 minutes). The Series Pass template does not have the option to start late and end early. Is there any way I can set a pass up manually that way?
Using the DVR web UI, go to the Series pass and choose custom start and end padding (this is not available in the clients).
You specify them in seconds.
Positive start padding starts before the airing start time
Negative start padding starts after the airing start time
Positive end padding ends after the airing end time
Negative end padding ends before the airing end time
You might also want to see which source has more accurate EPG data. I know it's on Plex, Samsung and Tubi.
Fantastic! I have yet to discover all the nooks and crannies.
Thanks!
As it turns out, PlexTV-Gracenote is the channel with the bad EPG. It show programs that are further out of sync than I realized.
The two channel EPG that seem to be be in sync with the programs airing are Samsung and Pluto TV - NoCords. The EPG information is not as complete in either. While both have episode plots that are similar they are still different. One has an episode number with no season number and the other has the correct episode name. PlexTV-Gracenote has a lot of upcoming shows but they apparently all have the wrong times. Pluto TV No Cords has a few more programs in the upcoming shows display than Samsung, so Pluto NoCords wins.
p.s. none of these three channels are in sync with each other but PlexTV-Gracenote is way off of the live airing.. .
Thanks again. I know how to start a program late now.
At least you're getting accurate airing times to record with.
It's a pain dealing with these fast services and bad guide data. Especially bad gracenote data.
Without gracenote data, those Pluto recordings will be grouped under another show with the same name as your gracenote data recordings. So when you look at your Library, the recordings will appear under different shows with the same name (different Series ID's)
And the only way to fix it is to import them all and try to match all the episodes. No Thanks!
