Providence/Boston area Physical Channel 24 Test

image

If you live in the green area in the above map, can you do me a favor and test if you are receiving Physical Channel 24 (Display Channel 6-1 through 6-4)?

At least since Monday December 4, 2023, I was able to receive the signal but the stations did not populate:

Then, starting Thursday December 7, 2023, even the signal dropped below a receivable range:

In case you are wondering, I have already tested on multiple devices/direct connection to TV, removed anything else on the line (filters, splitters, etc...), and basically tried every other factor under the sun. Meanwhile, I can still receive signals from adjacent frequencies, including one that shares the same tower. I have also emailed the engineer at the station, but have not heard back yet.

The only thing I haven't done is test another antenna, and--lacking one handy--that's what I'm hoping you can do for me! I have no idea if this could be an antenna problem, but want to rule every possible factor out.

Thanks!

And just after I put this together, I found others talking about it on the AVS Forum:

So, NM then, looks like I'm not the only one!

And now in case anyone else has been dealing with this:

And finally an actual update from WLNE (a week late and full of inaccuracies):

Basically, they say it should be fixed by the evening of Wednesday December 13, 2023. We'll see!

Can you get WCVB where you are?

Yes, as such it's been no issue recording the regular programs. That's how I actually noticed the issue in the first place. I was watching something and saw the WCVB logo in the corner. I went back into the Channels logs to figure out what was happening and I saw:

2023/12/04 19:55:10.029061 [ERR] Failed to start stream on channel 6.1 via 108010F9: HDHomeRun: 807 No Video Data

A whole bunch of wasted testing and research later, and there was my first post!

WLNE is back in business:
