I came across this project by Stanford today.
They retransmit bay area ota channels on the internet for free, just have to make an account with them.
Since I live in the bay area and pay for Locast to get these channels, any chance support could be added so I could save $5.50/month?
From their site:
The idea of this study is streaming TV channels to study participants over the Internet, and the Puffer website will automatically experiment with different algorithms that control the timing and quality of video sent to them
I think the idea of using a source that "automatically experiment[s] with different … timing and quality of video" is not suitable for Channels. The Channels team has already expended inordinate amounts of effort to improve Ffmpeg to handle the malformed streams that TVE providers are sending. Asking them to work around a self-described constantly moving target seems like a bit much.
