QNAP NAS issues

HI, I’m new to Channels and QNAP NAS. I installed the Channels DVR and tried to record several things, which seems like they recorded. But when I tried to view the recordings, video would launch only for a second and then fail.

I looked on the channels setting and noticed that for the NAS disk it reports: “16.73 MB available.” It was 0 MB when I had recordings. I have a 3 TB hard drive and there is clearly lots of space. How do I change this?

Hi, it sounds like you did not configure your recordings directory when setting up the DVR.

On the DVR’s web UI, go to the Settings tab and look at the Basic Settings on the left. You need to uncheck the DVR checkbox, then click on the “…” next to the box below. In the picker, click “/share” on the left, then click “+” to create a directory named DVR for your recordings. Finally click save.

You should now see it say “/share/DVR” under the checkbox. Once the spinner completes, the correct size should be listed at the top of the page.

(A screenshot of the current Settings tab before you make any changes would be helpful).

Thanks so much. I just created a “DVR” folder in the multimedia folder on the NAS and selected that for Channels and it now has over 2.5 TB and recordings work! Thanks!
