Quality of Stream - does channels limit the resolution?

Does Channels DVR limit the resolution of a stream from a source? I am watching hockey now and am trying to figure out if the pixelation is due to Channels DVR or the refresh rate of my TV. I'm using my laptop to run Channels DVR and have channels from Verizon Fios, Spectrum, YES, and MSGGO associated with my account. Thank you in advance!

Nope.

If playback quality is set to “original” in your client (the default) then Channels passes through the stream exactly as it comes from the source.

Most likely the source is either low bitrate or low frame rate.
If it's a TVE source, you can check their live website feed to see if the issue is there at the source.

Likely low bit rate as well as 29.97fps. Watching the Olympics on USA was painful... Only TVE source that is great for sports is ESPN. It's 59.94fps and higher bitrate.

Thank you!

This may be a stupid question, but does cable have a higher resolution than TVE?

Depends on your provider. Some cable providers offer 4K content.

All my Cable Channels are 720P H264. So most TVE has better resolution but only Stereo, Cable is mostly 5.1.
