Questionable connection to my DVR port 8089

I got a new router that can show all current network and port connections to my devices and I saw that there was an IP constantly connected to port 8089 on my DVR. When I did a whois on the IP it was listed as data center in Germany and there were many reports that this data center was associated with scammy activity.

Anyone ever seen this before?

It's normal to see connection attempts. If this is a consistent connection I recommend at the very least, you block that IP on your router or server firewall. You might want to rebuild the server as it may be compromised.

Good luck

it was a constant connection to the port according to my router. But the DVR itself showed no connection

Forget about port forwarding and energize Tailscale.

can't. I have family members who use my server from other cities on Apple TV's. ATV does not support tailscale yet

The DVR is probably correct.

The Testflight build for apple tv does support tailscale.

No way to get complete tech noobs to install test flight and run betas.

This happens all the time with port scanning. If you are worried about it, get the remote viewers public ip and then on your firewall allow traffic only from those sources. It will stop the port scans...

Yep, thought of that. Just not sure if I can have more than one source IP in the rule.

You might be able to do 2 rules. I'm not sure with consumer grade routers...
