Questions about appropriate hardware?

I am running Channels DVR on an old (2014), cracked screen, otherwise decommissioned MBP using https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07X41PWTY?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1 as external storage for DVR. Is the MBP appropriate for Channels DVR? Is the HDD appropriate? Are there any concerns about the constant read and write access all day, every day for (hopefully) a long time?

Some of the cheaper drives use SMR which sucks so you can research that
