Questions About Channels

I'm considering checking out channels to use with TVE. I have years of media server experience, including pci tuners, comskip, etc.

Current Setup:
Headless Pi4b 4gb running Emby Server
Two Roku TVs.

I just had a few questions.

  1. Can I get channels recordings from Channels into Emby
  2. Does the channels app have a way to sync watched status to Trakt.
  3. About how big of a file size is a 60 minute recording?
  4. What format are the files? Do they need to be tramscoded to Roku tv's?
  5. How many streams can you typically record at once? Currently I'm getting about 100mbit/down from Xfinity.
  6. For long term storage is there methods to remove the commercials from recordings?

I realize there's a trial, and that's great, but I don't want to spend the time playing with it if it's not something that will work for me.

  1. Yes, just point Emby at your TV and Movies directories
  2. No
  3. 6-8 GB for MPEG2, 1-2 for TV Everywhere using h.264
  4. TVE will be h.264 in an MPG container. I'm not sure how Roku will handle it coming from another media center.
  5. A lot, there's no real limit with TVE.
  6. No, Channels indexes the commercials and the Channels app automatically skips over them so that it is non destructive. Some Channels fans have used MCEBuddy to remove the commercials completely. Channels will dome EDL data to let you do this.
