I have 32GB of RAM in my Channels DVR on Windows 10, with an SSD main drive and an external RAID for recordings. Is there a way to tell the DVR to transcode in RAM, to lessen SSD wear, or alternatively would it work to make half the RAM a RAMdisk and launch the DVR from there?
No, we do not provide any way to do that. SSDs can handle a huge number of writes before they start to exhibit any wear and we haven't found the amount that is written during transcoding to be enough to warrant effort to change that.
