I just restarted my subscription to Channels. I am having issues with random freezing. It will freeze, and pop up the channel banner, sound goes away and then starts again. I check my signal strength and says it is 85% on 2.1 and 100% on 4.1. I never had any issues using my HDHomerun app. I am running my server on Windows 11. I uploaded my diagnostics. Tried turning Software and tuner sharing on/off. Any ideas on what could be the issue. Sometimes i do get a message saying tuner reception problems, but it wont always do that. And not sure if it would be my antenna since its saying 100% and it worked fine on HDHR app.
Generally when there is a message that pops up stating there is a reception issue then that is what it really is. Channels only reports reception errors that comes from the HDHR. I haven't ran Android in a while but when watching the channel there should be a drop down to show stats. Strength, Quality, Symbol. Out of the 3 the most important is actually the Quality and Symbol. Strength is just how loud the signal is but doesn't represent how clean it is. The problem with signal issues is trying to figure out what is causing it. It can be anything from Multipath where the antenna receives two paths of the same signal like a car going by and reflecting a signal back to the antenna, to the HDHR power adapter failing , and too much amplification of the signal to where it is to hot and the tuner can't handle it. I guess what I am saying is we would need more detail on your setup.
Also if you scrub back like a few seconds while watching tv does it seem to get better vs playing right on live?
i did pull up the stats on channel 2.1. It is consistently strength of 84-85% Quality 99-100%. I backed it up after it froze up and did that pop up banner, and it did not freeze hardly at all on the playback. Not nearly as bad as it did during live TV. I used to use Channels about 1 year ago and never had this issue with the same setup. I have an antenna in the attic. ATT router in the basement with my HDHR duo connected directly to it. Server is on Windows 11 with my hard drive connected directly to PC.
one thing i did think of, is when i was setting my server up. I had to manually add the IP of the HDHR box to it. It was not able to manually detect it. Not sure why that would be.
Yeah the reason I asked if you backup for 3 to 5 seconds and it plays fine. There is a buffering issue that never seems to resolve itself until you scrub. I do from time to time have this issue with mine as well and that is an apple tv.
I'm experiencing this as well on Android TV, but it is not HD Home Run. It's happening with channels running over ADB Tuner from YouTube TV. I found that what fixes it is forcing transcoding on my Shield only, then playback is smooth. Everything in my network is wired, so I don't believe networking is the issue here, especially considering I could play a 4K Remux to Plex with no issues.
