Raspberry Pi 4 VS Raspberry PI 5

Hello...

I had a Raspberry PI 4 set up as a Channels DVR Server and now I've set up a Raspberry PI 5 to do the same thing. The Raspberry PI 4 worked just about perfectly for the job! The Raspberry PI 5 has had a lot of issues with buffering and when I access it remotely I constantly get a transcoder error except on programs I've pre-recorded. Did I set something up wrong or is this a known issue with Raspberry PI 5?

The 5 is not worth the trouble, channels-wise. No hardware transcoding, which made the 4 such a nice fit, if your transcoding means were modest.

Raspberry Pi 5 is not supported and is barely the same hardware as the 4. Especially since it has no hardware transcoder.

The era of Raspberry Pi’s being good cheap hardware are pretty much over. For the same amount of money, you can get an n95 intel mini pc that runs circles around a Pi.

Something to take a look at. I've watched several reviews on the GMKTec productions and most perform very well for their price. I bought the G3 model and I'm using it to learn and test Ubuntu. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cBM53n-aUEM

I also setup a Raspberry Pi 5 this week, installed Channels DVR and immediately started having pauses/buffering playing back OTA streams via HD Homerun. I’ll have to fall back to the Raspberry Pi 4 for now and get another BeeLink mini PC like I did for my Plex replacement this summer.
