Raspberry PI DVR install hangs (resolved)

I updated the PI to allow USB boot and had flashed the latest install image (ChannelsDVRServer_PI4.img.gz) to a 2TB Western Digital My Passport.

Now after moving the drive to a USB 3 port on the PI and plugging in the PI - status updates flew across the screen until it seems to have stopped (been 30 mins now)

The last thing on the screen is:

Started Update UTMP about System Runlevel Changes.

Any ideas how to get the install to complete?

And not sure if this is helpful, but the PI is in the official Raspberry PI case and there are two lights on the front, the left one is solid green and the right side is red.

Green light means it's done. The Pi takes less than 30s to boot up.

Did you try opening http://dvr-server

I assumed once the install was completed that I would be presented with a UI on the PI and bring up a web browser on the PI and point it at the URL above, is that not the case? When you say open that URL do you mean from the PI or from another machine on the same network?

The Pi is headless and designed to be stuffed in a closet next to your router.

There is no UI over HDMI

You go to that link on any other device on your network to set up the dvr

Ok, thanks for the clarification, I misunderstood the purpose of the "ChannelsDVRServer_PI4.img.gz" image, I did not understand the result would be a headless DVR.

So, then, if I want to have the Raspberry PI OS and the DVR server I would need to follow the "standard Linux instructions".

That's right.
