Realistically, what does no hardware transcoding mean for Channels?

Like others, I have been waiting for the DS923+. Now it's here, but without hardware transcoding. Ick.
I use my current DS918+ for much more than just Channels and Plex, so I would like the more powerful processor and 10GbE ability (with the addition of the Network Upgrade Module).

But streaming is still very important. Realistically, what does no hardware transcoding mean? I have at most 1-2 simultaneous concurrent remote streams. Is that going to bring the DS923+ to its knees? Would I see a significant performance hit while streaming?

It is a shame that AMD systems don't have their own quick sync. Depending on what you are using your NAS for. A couple of streams will cause some significant performance hits. There are some reviews on youtube about 920 vs 923. If you didn't do any transcoding then a 923 would work just fine. Or if the device you are using can do the transcoding on the fly then it wouldn't be a problem either. But having the processor do it. It will hurt other performances for what ever else you are running.
