Ok, I’ve been wondering this for some time. How does Channels decide what to recommend?
I ask because I’ve never once seen something here that is of any interest to me.
Please can we have an option to turn it off?
It's based on the channels you have favorited on the dvr

I think in some counties, channels are very focussed on particular types of content. Here our main channels show all kinds of stuff. Determining that something might be of interest because it is on a channel I’ve favourited doesn’t really work.
There are no plans to turn this off. It's just there in case it's useful.
That said, you're actually supposed to see something different at the top of that screen: New Shows & Seasons
It seems new show detection was not working in the UK. I've put in a fix on the next prerelease, so after upgrading and reindexing guide data you should see a new section on that screen.
