Record Process Started But It Did Not Record

Just installed the public beta. I have an old HDHR and I’m running the DVR on my Ubuntu box - dual Celeron 3GHz with 32GB RAM - this box is fairly taxed in the CPU realm as it also runs my security system (ZoneMinder with 5 cameras).

I ran a small test - I recorded the Ellen Show. It went fine and I was able to commercial skip and all that.

So then I scheduled a few recording for last night - one being The Blacklist. It shows as being recorded but it did not record anything. Here is the log:

Thanks for reporting!

Legacy tuner support is still in progress. Looks like we might have a bug where it’s not dealing with errors from legacy tuners correctly.

Can you tell me how big that mpg file for blacklist is on disk?

0 bytes for the blacklist

More tests and I found that if I record on channel 8.2 the recording is fine. If I record on 6.1 it’s a no-go.

Is there anything I can do from my end to help just let me know.

Interesting. Are you able to watch channel 6.1 in the Channels app?

Can you post the logs from another 6.1 recording failure as well.

Yes I am able to watch all ‘scanned for’ channels.

I will run more tests. I will move the HDHR to the same gigabit switch - right now it is on a 100mbit hub off another gigabit switch.

What about via the web UI’s “On Now” tab, are you able to watch that channel? That should use similar streaming code as when making a recording.

I made some improvements to legacy tuner handling in the latest DVR server build. Probably won’t help here though, since I’m still not quite sure what’s happening. Let me know if you find any more useful details.

Sorry for the delay - honey-do lists taking priority. I tried on my MAC to view the “on now” and I see no video/audio - The timer does not move either. I’ll try from my Linux box soon…

To close the loop on this — this problem no longer exists. I have created recordings from the Web and ATV and no problems. Must have been an early beta fluke or ‘sun spots’…ha!
